Bravo for the first novel from Wells. A unique type of science fiction that is quite realistic in its premise that you almost feel like it wouldn't be too out there for this to actually happen. It isn't fantastical and will be a perfect choice for lovers of all genres. The family dynamics and personalities of the characters draw you in make you feel for them as they make choices that influence the future of untold worlds. Wells mixes these dimensions in a way that you easily feel transported into the novel and contains language that creates settings you can easily visualize. Her characters are well developed creating deep connections and feelings towards them. (A few of them I want to knock upside the head!) I can't wait to get my hands on the second novel in the series to see what the future holds for Cindy, Capriana and the worlds Talehm protects.Product details

This book was very well written. The plot was creative, took unexpected twist and turns, and kept me reading! The characters were also well developed. By the end of the book, I felt as though I had known the characters for years! Destiny's gate was great and I can't wait to read the second book.
This was such a great read! It is the perfect mix of mystery and fantasy. You never expect what is going to happen next, and find yourself on the edge of your seat with every turn of the page. The author does of great job of captivating their audience. I am looking forward to the next book.

A new genre which stretched our book clubs' imaginations and gave us ample opportunity to enjoy and evening of critical thinking! I really loved this book. It is not my general genre read, but was so well written. I am a mystery story fan and it was refreshing to read something different.The description of characters and events was full and easily pictured in my mind. The writing flowed beautifully and was hard to put down. I liked the premise of the story, not sure how to characterize it; futuristic or fantasy, mixed with present day. I am looking forward to Book 2 of this series and highly recommend it!
Wells demonstrates a true mastery of the English language in this wonderfully well-written debut. A coming-of-age story of loss and discovery, conflicted loyalties, and the search purpose, this story has pretty much all a reader can hope to find in a good, realistic- feeling fantasy novel. Genuine and relatable characters, mystery and suspense, surprises, a bit of swashbuckling - not to mention an exciting climactic battle scene- and a great premise; this is a lot of fun to read. The story steadily draws the reader in, providing numerous threads in a storyline that weaves together into a truly engaging tapestry. Entertaining and exciting, this is a journey I look forward to taking again when book 2 comes out.
